How Do You Do That!?

For our final project in my Digital Message Making class was to create a How-To poster. We were to come up with theme to show how to do something. I chose to do "How to cry on cue." With that I came up with a little purple creature that would live underground trying to make him self cry. My first step was to find something to dry out the eyes. The next step was to use eye drops then if that didnt work to think sad thoughts. Next to cut up onions or pinch yourself, and finally get the quivering lip and you got your self some tears.

General Sherman

For my third project our assignment was to create a digital illustration using any program of our choice. Also to select a Guinness Book World Record as our subject. I choose to do the worlds largest and oldest tree. Party because it reminds me of my childhood vacations visiting Yosemite and seeing the giant redwoods. The trees name is the General Sherman. My first step in doing the illustration was doing a hand drawn trace of the image and then scanning it into photoshop. After that I created a multiply layer and used the paint bucket to fill in the image. Resulting in an accident the colors cause a cool grainy effect. Then I found a stock image of wood grain and overlayed it over my images resulting in the color I wanted.

Aesthetically Pleasing Graphs

For my next assignment we were asked to pick a genre or idea that could be displayed graphically. There was a lot of room for this project with very few boundaries. I chose my subject to be about video games, about who plays them, what people buy, and the most popular selling games. I broke down what kind of people play a certain gaming console and divided it up by color, size and percentages. The second graph i created a toy video games gun to show the most popular genre. I used color as well as size to differentiate the information. The third graph I made a plot graph using televisions to show the most popular game every purchased. I also divided the information in color, visuals and placement. I created this project in Illustrator using the pen tool.

Organic Farms

For an assignment I was given to choose a company name out of a hat. We were too design a new logo for this company based on the words we received. I was give "Organic Farms" and decided I didnt want a classic barn with a sunrise. I really tried to emphasize the organic part by using a simple tree illustration and hills to represent a farm. I kept it black white but made it have the possibility to have color. I created this project in Illustrator using mostly the pen tool.
